Give Me Back My Contextmenu
Give Me Back My Contextmenu
I’ll keep it short. Especially since most other articles I found on this topic are streteched to absolute incredible lengths.
Getting back the “old” contextmenu, as we know it in Windows 10 and prior, is actually quite simple. Just a small change in the registry and everything is back to the old normal.
The two commands below add, or remove, an entry in your computer’s registry. The quickest way to run those is by pressing the Windows key + R, to open the “Run” window. After executing the command you just need to restart your explorer.exe by using the task manager or rebooting your PC.
re-activate the old contextmenu #
reg.exe add "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}\InprocServer32" /f /ve
return to the Windows 11 contextmenu #
reg.exe delete "HKCU\Software\Classes\CLSID\{86ca1aa0-34aa-4e8b-a509-50c905bae2a2}" /f
Admittedly, this post mostly exists so I don’t have to look for one myself every time I need it 😉
